How it all began
His Perspective
Before we got here, Laura and I started as friends. We met during our sophomore year of high school, but it wasn’t until we were graduating from SMU that the timing finally lined up. Looking back, I’m grateful we had those years to build such a strong friendship first, it made falling in love feel effortless.
After college, we spent the first year and a half of our relationship doing long distance. It wasn’t ideal, but it only strengthened our relationship and taught us to make the most of our time together.
Through every stage of our relationship, Laura has remained the same thoughtful, kind, and genuine person I first became friends with. She has an incredible ability to make me laugh, and life is better with her by my side.
From friends to now getting married, our story has truly been years in the making. I couldn’t be more excited for everything that’s ahead, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with my best friend.
Her Perspective
Shishir and I first met during our sophomore year of high school in 2015. Throughout the rest of high school, we were always part of the same close-knit friend group. By chance, we both chose to attend SMU, and with all the excitement and uncertainty that came with college, we always seemed to have each other's backs. Long before we started dating, being around him always felt like home.
Our friendship grew throughout college as we navigated new experiences together, sharing stories about life in Dallas and Kansas and even making road trips home for the holidays. Shishir was always my safe place — the person I knew I could count on no matter what. I knew he deserved someone great; little did I know that the person we had both been looking for had been right in front of us all along.
Shishir asked me on our first date in April 2022, during the very end of our senior year at SMU, and the rest is history. We've already been through so many different seasons of life together, and I cannot wait to spend forever with my very best friend!
